Important: Saddle up In The Brooke! This is an event not to be missed! The first annual SaddleBrooke Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering starring Baxter Black. Performers to include Baxter Black,, Dave Stamey, Ross Knox and the Way Out West Trio.
Cowboy poetry is rhymed, metered verse written by someone who has lived a significant portion of their life in Western North American cattle culture. The verse refects an intimate knowledge of that way of life and the community from which it maintains itself in tradition.
Whereas Cowboy Poetry was recited in the cow camps for their own amusement and to entertain, Cowboy Music had a different origin. It was certainly sung by the cowboys in the evenings around the campfires and in cow town saloons, along with poetry recitation, but the music had a higher purpose. On the long cattle drives the cowboys would sing and yodel to calm the cattle at night and avoid stampedes.
All net proceeds from this event will benefit the Tucson Troop Support Group.
